Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

ICT is an acronym for Information Communication Technology. This area of the curriculum is aimed at developing students’ skills in digital technologies. Our aim is to create an environment where students are empowered to use ICT in a manner that meets their individual needs. Equally important is teaching students how to use digital technology responsibly and best practices to ensure their safety when working online.
Students are able to take advantage of our computer lab that features 26 desktop computers. Not only do they take part in 45 minute sessions as part of their specialist classes, but classrooms teachers are also able to bring classes in to use the computer lab during the week.
During these specialist classes, students may have access and learning coding with our robotic SPHERO’s, working with our 3D printer and activities on desktop computers.
Each week students are provided with a well planned lesson of digital technology skills catered to all class groups from foundation to grade 6.
The grade 3/4 area has access to their own mini lab, which features 15 desktop computers. Each and every classroom also has a bank of 5 or 6 desktop computers available for students to use.
The school has a very successful 1:1 mobile device program which has been operating for a number of years now. Thanks to the financial support of our Parent & Friends Association, Grade 3 to 6 students have their own iPads which they are responsible for. Prep-2 students have access to a number of iPads for class and small group activities
